Bitzer Mobile manages Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) in enterprises in a secure fashion.
“BYOD is very promising,” said Bitzer’s new CEO Naeem Zafar, in a recent interview with TMC’s Erik Linask.
“Companies like it because (an employee) brings their own device. So they don’t have to buy BlackBerrys and expensive phones for you and pay for them,” Zafar said. “Employees find it attractive.”
Here are examples. An insurance agent can close deals on the road. A doctor can look at patient data wherever he/she may be located.
“The problem is – what freaks CEOs out – is the security implications,” he added.

To offer its service, Bitzer Mobile uses a secure, mobile app container. It isolates corporate access and data from the employee’s personal apps, found on mobile devices.
It has many advantages over other options. For example, user credentials do not leave the container. Encryption is tied to user authentication credentials. There is also end-to-end authentication, and simpler configuration than in other solutions.
The system also does not interfere with the user experience. Bitzer supports iOS-, Android-, BlackBerry-, and Windows-operated smartphones and tablets. It can manage authentication, security, control and application mobilization.
Recently named the company’s CEO, Zafar previously taught at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas business school. He has written widely on entrepreneurship, and was president and CEO at several software and security companies including Pyxis Technology, Silicon Design Systems and Veridicom.
Bitzer Mobile was founded in 2010. Bitzer’s customers include medium- and large-sized corporations. They support BYOD and corporate owned devices, and sell directly to large enterprises.
The firm is also setting up a network of resellers and distributors.
