Nvidia Now Offering Five New Notebook GPUs

Nvidia is now offering five new notebook GPUs that improve performance and convenience, and boast several new features.

The company highlights in this week’s announcement how the technology helps to extend battery life, makes the screen easier to view and increases overall performance of the device.

For instance, the GPU Boost 2.0 improves performance of graphics. Optimus technology improves battery life. GeForce Experience software adjusts in-game settings.

"There is an elegant simplicity to Nvidia's GeForce 700M notebook technologies," Rene Haas, vice president and general manager of the notebook business unit at NVIDIA, said in a company statement. "You use your notebook how you want, and GeForce makes your experience awesome."

The new lineup of NVIDIA GeForce 700M GPUs include: GeForce GT 750M, GeForce GT 745M, and GeForce GT 740M GPUs for the performance segment – as well as GeForce GT 735M and GeForce GT 720M GPUs for the mainstream segment, the company said.

Notebook manufacturers to introduce notebooks with GPU Boost 2.0 technology are: Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba.

The announcement shows that Nvidia continues to expand its product offerings. The company is also expanding its physical plant.

Nvidia plans to open an impressive 1 million-square-foot headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif., according to a recent report from MobilityTechzone.

The plans will include two buildings – shaped like triangles – which reportedly link “science and art.” The interior will allow for more employee collaboration – a clear goal for its workforce.

Nvidia submitted the plans to Santa Clara building officials for review, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. It will be located, if approved, on a 24-acre parcel. Nvidia plans to begin construction on the first 500,000-square-foot building in June, and it would open in July 2015. It will be on San Tomas Expressway, across from the company’s present headquarters.

The second building will follow at a later date.
