VMware Mobile Security Alliance Adds Five Cloud Access Security Brokers

The threat level of the mobile ecosystem is getting worse as individuals and organizations increasingly use this technology as their primary communications and computing solutions. Hackers are now fully aware of this shift, and their efforts to exploit mobile vulnerabilities have increased dramatically in the past couple of years.

According to TrendMicro, "The threat actors are creating malicious mobile apps at an incremental rate compared to what occurred in the PC world. So we know that this attack surface (mobile devices) is a very attractive one to cyber thieves."

As a global provider of cloud infrastructure and business mobility, with a major presence in large enterprises, VMware has a vested interest in protecting its customers growing population of mobile users. So the announcement five leading cloud access security brokers (CASBs) have joined the VMware AirWatch Mobile Security Alliance (MSA), provides a level of comfort for current and future customers.

The MSA includes some of the leading digital security companies in the world. Check Point Software Technologies, FireEye and Intel Security are among the 17 partners who work with VMware engineering to provide customers a comprehensive security management solution from a single pane of glass.

VMware said, Blue Coat Systems, Inc., CloudLock, Netskope, Palo Alto Networks and Skyhigh Networks will add their expertise in coming together to resolve the many challenges of mobile and cloud security by supporting the VMware AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) platform.

Noah Wasmer, senior vice president, product management, mobile products, End-User Computing, VMware, said, "Optimized integration between VMware Workspace ONE and CASB partner solutions enable quick action and remediation against threats from a single platform, simplifying mobile-cloud security and management."

The integration of Workspace ONE with products and services from the new partners will offer customers validated solutions that provide security, visibility and control of applications and devices, and secure digital workspaces from the cloud.

Today's collaborative workforce relies heavily on mobile and the cloud to bring resources together no matter where they are or what device they are using. VMware AirWatch and VMware Workspace ONE make enterprise mobility, identity management and cloud security available as a comprehensive solution to give customers a secure and compliant environment.

With these solutions in place, organization can quickly identify security threats and vulnerabilities in cloud applications so they can enforce the necessary action on their mobile deployments instantly. This ability will dramatically lower the risks to mobile devices that are now always connected to company networks and cloud resources.

Validated and integrated solutions from VMware, Blue Coat Systems, Inc., CloudLock, Netskope, Palo Alto Networks and Skyhigh Networks are now available.
