The Official Release Event for the Samsung Galaxy SIV Scheduled for New York on March 14

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is a grand combination of the world’s greatest exhibition for innovations in the mobile industry. Players in the industry make use of this day to bring to light the newest devices and services they have in stock and hope that they own the best innovation to allow them to steal the crowd’s eye. However, many companies are shifting from this trend and opting to stage independent events allowing them to soak in all the attention the audience has to offer.

Samsung has decided to follow the latter path, just like it did for its Samsung Galaxy SIII, in the release of its next generation flagship model; the Samsung Galaxy SIV. It is now official that the Galaxy SIV debut is scheduled to go down on March 14 in the first ever Samsung Unpacked event in New York City.

With the count down on, the Internet is awash with rumors and speculations about the new device. The Samsung Galaxy SIV most likely improves on its predecessor’s 4.8-inch display by upgrading it to HD resolution since any size improvements will dull the gap between the Galaxy and the 5.5-inch display Note II. AnandTech however has a slightly different opinion to this. Posters spied during the tour suggest that the new Galaxy might feature a 4.99-inch full HD (1080p) screen.

If Samsung sticks to its historical trend, the Galaxy S4 might most probably enter the market with a $199 price tag for the 16GB model on contract and $500 for unlocked devices. This has been the trend for most of the high-end smartphone sensations and experts believe that Samsung will have to honor this unwritten code to remain in the competition.

With Samsung still suffering from the ruling of the Galaxy S series design row with Apple and critics pointing fingers at the company’s use of cheap materials to create the smartphone, the probability of a fully redesigned device is one we cannot rule out.

Even though Samsung might steal the limelight in the March 14 release, the Samsung Galaxy S4 must be a real marvel if Samsung hopes to take control of the highly competitive smartphone industry. With other major players in the field like HTC having announced their latest releases, and more announcements expected, even at the Mobile World Congress, customers have much to look forward to in 2013.
