Net Nanny Comes to iOS

How safe is your child online?

Many parents have legitimate worries when their children surf the Web. With a lot of children having far better computer skills than their parents, it can be a little worrying for a mom or dad who understands some of the dangers that exist on the Web, to ensure the child is safe without curtailing their curiosity.

Net Nanny, a software platform for a safe Internet experience, has always been available to help protect kids online, and has now gone a step further by announcing the availability of Net Nanny for iOS.

The Net Nanny for iOS is now available from the iTunes App Store for $4.99, and comes with customizable safe Internet browsing filters. It can be installed on your kids’ iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad running iOS 5.0 and later, and replaces the Safari browser on these devices as the browser of choice.

According to the CEO at Net Nanny, Russ Warner, “Net Nanny iOS now provides strong online protection to help prevent kids from viewing online materials that can be unsafe or too mature – ensuring safe Internet surfing.”

Parents now have three safety settings to choose from. The “High” setting blocks pornography, nudity, death, gory imagery, lingerie, and general profanity. The “Medium” setting blocks pornography and nudity and warns of content that contains death, gore, lingerie and profanity. The “Low” setting blocks pornography and nudity.

In order to be effective, Net Nanny for iOS should be set as the default Web browser while disabling the other browsers. The program protects entire Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G networks, and provides alternative searches with Google, Yahoo! and Bing. It comes with traditional Safari browser settings as well, such as multiple tabs, pinch and zoom, persistent cookies and bookmarks.

Net Nanny for iOS now joins the class of other Net Nanny solutions for Android, Mac and Windows. It can be downloaded here.
