Du Battery Saver Passes 10 Million Active Android Users Per Day

While we all love to play Angry Birds and a whole host of other games on our Android devices, there are some apps that save a very real purpose. Some of those purposes even make it a little easier to play our Angry Birds apps for a while longer. Du Battery Saver is one of the top three battery saver applications on Android’s Google Play. The application’s developers recently announced that the app just surpassed the 10 million daily active users mark.

The company estimates that its battery saver application has managed to save those users as much energy as it takes to power 850 homes per year. This is figured out by using a couple of number provided by the World Energy Council. That group says that an average smartphone has a battery capacity of 1500 milliamp hours (mAh) which requires 5.55 watt hours of power to charge completely. Du Battery Saver says that it can save smartphone users by improving battery life by up to 50 percent.

Because the battery is drainig slower, people have to recharge less and that ends up saving a collective 27.8 million watt hours of electricity per day. That translates out to about 10.1 million kilowatt hours around the world.

"Each year, the amount of energy saved by Du Battery Saver users could power more than 850 homes in the U.S.," said Zhang Lei, founder of Du Battery Saver in a recent release hailing the download mark. "Improving battery life on mobile devices isn't just about bringing convenience for users, it's also about doing our part to help reduce power consumption for the planet."

Android has been leading the way in applications like the Du Battery Saver and mobile security applications like those put out by AVG. That is one of the things that really sets the Android OS apart from what iOS has to offer. Users can get a better feel for the way their smartphones operate, right down to how much battery power they are draining away with certain uses.
